Toluca Lake
For this renovation of a drab mid-century office building in Burbank, the clients wanted to reimagine it as Federalist or Neo-Georgian; when TMA countered with a more local reference - that of the Hollywood Regency work of Paul Williams - the clients were excited to move forward. The difficulty was in reconciling the Modernist guts of the building with a highly regulated facade; but the challenge was met by extending the renovation into the lobby and interior spaces and adding an elevator in a strategic location, resulting in an virtually seamless resolution.
